Week Nine Family Challenge - Under 10s23rd June 2020
Week nine brings you the final week of challenges to complete on The Big Colour Challenge and we’re going out with a bang!
Remember this challenge from earlier on? You’ve had plenty of time to practise, so can you beat your record? Agree a start and finish line with your bike and helmet in the middle. With your goggles on, pretend to swim to your bike, once you reach it take your goggles off, put your helmet on and step through your bike before taking your helmet off and running to the finish line. Race against your family and your previous time!
Find a green space with plenty of room for our train ride game with your whole family. Stand single file and start walking forwards, the person at the back now needs to get to the front as quickly as they can. Once they get to the front, the new person at the back needs to do the same and so on until everyone has gone from back-to-front.
Once everyone’s had a go, try making it a little harder by running, scooting or cycling in the same pattern. Make sure you keep communicating whilst you’re moving around.
This week we want you to design your very own dream triathlon. You can swim through the sky, cycle over a mountain and run across the moon, so where will you swim, bike and run? We’ve created a template for you to use, but don’t worry if you haven’t got a printer, you can just copy it and go from there.
To enter simply upload a photo of your finished design to a social media platform of your choice (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and tag us in @brittri and use #MyBigColourChallenge, to be in with a chance of winning a £25 Lego voucher.
60 second challenge
This is one to get those arms nice and strong! Lay on the floor on your tummy with your hands under your shoulders. Keeping your back and legs straight, push yourself up with your arms until they’re fully extended, then slowly bend your arms again to lower your body close to the ground before pushing up again. Don’t forget to count how many you do!
If you want to make it a little easier, you can do it with your knees touching the floor. Challenge your family to see who can do the most in a minute.
Roll with it
Take on a game of street scrabble with this challenge. Plan a cycle route around your local area, making a word with the first letter of the streets you cycle along. For example, Thomas Street, Ringwood Crescent and Irwin Drive spell out TRI. Attempt this challenge and see which word or words you can make!
